Cute Online, Not Flattering On

"For reference, I’m 5’5”, about 160 lbs, and normally wear a size 30 or L. I ordered both a M and L — unfortunately, neither worked. Online they look super cute, and I even bought the entire outfit shown (the black tank and belt). The L arrived first and was not only too big but also very unflattering. The pleating in the front made my midsection look frumpy and bulky, and the back did a weird puckering thing just below the elastic waistband. The M fit better overall, but the front pleating still made me look bulkier than I am. These shorts are also very see-through. The positives: the length is great, and the material is super soft without feeling cheap. I really wanted to like them, but I ended up returning both."
