And what that means, if it's0:08January and it's a new year, it means0:10it's our annual denim sale, which is the0:12stock up of all stockups, the0:15opportunity to clean up that denim0:16wardrobe. And the reason we always do a0:18live during this big sale is because we0:20know there are so many burning questions0:24about denim and we want to answer them0:26for you. What are you wondering about?0:28What are you curious about? What is0:29stumping you about that denim wardrobe?0:31We're here to answer all your questions.0:33But I'm going to start off by letting0:34you know what's happening in denim right0:36now. Here's the deal. For years and0:38years and years and years, we have been0:41pingponging back and forth about what0:43the most important jean silhouette of0:45the season is. And I'm here to tell you0:47what's so great about what's happening0:49right now is it's all about building0:51that denim wardrobe. Which means there0:53is a place in your closet for a wide0:55leg. There is a place in your closet for0:57something relaxed. There is a place for0:59a straight. There is a place for a boot1:01cut. And yes, there's a whole bunch of1:03fun new interesting things happening in1:06denim like color and novelty that are1:09going to add some really serious flare1:13and fun to that everyday1:16look that we call grounding in denim.1:20So, we're going to start with one of my1:22favorites because boot cuts are1:25officially back. And here is the thing.1:28So many of us, and I'm putting myself in1:30that camp, never let the silhouette go1:31and for a darn good reason. It is leg1:34lengthening. It is curve creating. And1:36it is sexy as heck. And that is the1:38thing about this jean game. When you put1:40it on, you feel good. It was popular at1:43its height for a reason. And so many of1:46us just love, love, love the way that1:48this fits. I'm still in that camp. And1:50here's one of the challenges with boot1:51cut I hear from so many women is that1:53when you're petite, it's really hard to1:55wear, right? Because where that hit1:57comes in in that boot shaping leg hits2:00you too low and it feels really funky2:03because your legs are right and then2:05you're chopping off half of that boot2:06bottom. Petite denim is your answer. So,2:11question I get all the time, how tall2:12are you? I am just scraping 5'4, but I2:15have the legs of someone who is more2:17like 5'1. So really long torso, really2:20short leg. So I am absolutely petite on2:22bottom. This jean is from PLA. Why I2:24love it? Super dark black wash with2:28totally tonal stitching. So it's clean.2:31You can elevate it. It's great for night2:33out. It also has a crazy amount of2:36stretch in it. And that really fun kick2:40in that boot is so so flattering. A2:43great shoe to wear with the boot is2:44something with more of that pointed toe.2:46So, I grabbed this great little sling2:48back. And I'm wearing this kind of like2:49in between. To me, this is an elevated2:51everyday look. I would absolutely wear2:52this to work. I'd wear this if I was2:54going out to dinner with my girls. Maybe2:57like a casual night out or I feel like I3:00am in the season right now of team3:01sports dinners when you want to feel3:04just a little bit more put together, but3:05it's not so up up. This is what I'd pop3:08on. Right. So fun. Okay, here's the3:12thing. We want to hear your questions.3:14So, sorry I'm coming. But the best part3:16about this live always is that I get to3:18bring a group of friends to help me out.3:19So, we're going to start with Dylan. And3:22this is always fun slashf funny because3:25this is my chance to show you how short3:27I really am. And you're in heels even.3:29And I'm in heels and how stuous Dylan is3:33and like why she's rocking denim. So,3:36I want to talk a little bit about the3:38silhouette that you're wearing. But then3:39I also do want to talk because we get a3:41lot of questions. As much as we talk3:42about petites, we also get a lot of3:44questions about tall.3:45Yes.3:45So, let's talk about your jean, talk3:47about why you love it, and then let's3:49talk a little bit about some of those3:50like like jumps and hurdles you find3:53when you're looking for the perfect jean3:54when you have long legs.3:55Absolutely. So, to start, I am wearing3:57the Good American. This is going to be a4:00true straight. So, uh one of my4:02challenges typically with a straight4:04leg, I do love a straight leg4:05silhouette, is how to find a full length4:08straight. I have gotten really good at4:10rocking a crop straight, an uh ankle4:13straight, but this full length straight4:15is such a fun um silhouette kind of4:17change for 2026. So, um the key here in4:21finding a full length jean is that 32 in4:24inseam, which Good American definitely4:26offers here. Um I'm wearing the light4:27wash. It also does come in a dark wash,4:30too. So, definitely4:31Yes.4:32I love a good dark wash. Elevate it,4:34dress it up a little bit. Great for4:35work.4:36Absolutely. Um, so I definitely always4:39feel like too when I wear when I finally4:41find a jean that is full length, the4:43next question is, okay, what's my shoe4:44pairing with this? And I have been4:46loving pairing the ballet flats back to4:48it. Um, the other thing, if you haven't4:50heard us talking about it already, is4:52the sneakerina sneaker. So, it gives the4:55ballet flat profile, but in that sneaker4:58fun fashion that I'm loving right now.5:00So fun.5:00Kind of like a little blend.5:01Yeah.5:02How tall are you? And what would you say5:03is your favorite jean that you is your5:06go-to? Oh gosh. Okay. So, I am I'm a5:09true 5'11. So, as you heard, Heidi is5:115'4. So, there is a seven inch5:13difference here. Um I do5:15I do math fast in the morning. That was5:17impressive.5:19So, I do love these jeans. I also I5:22these I wore to um actually just5:25yesterday are the Pistol Eevee jeans.5:27That is one of my favorite, as you were5:29talking, boot cut, like full length boot5:32cut, um, that I can even wear like the5:34tiniest little lift with, which is5:36awesome.5:36That's great. That's great. I mean, the5:38but the fun thing about a straight, I5:39think, is that it is really truly like5:42your word like your wardrobe workhorse,5:44right? Absolutely. It goes with5:45everything. You can go something more5:47relaxed on top, you can do something5:48more fitted on top, you can go a little5:49more classic, you can go a little bit5:50more edge, and pretty much every shoe5:52works with it.5:53Absolutely.5:54Which is fantastic. But I do think to5:56your point like a little ballet flat or5:58that low profofile shoe is what makes a6:00straight feel really fresh and is like a6:02really nice pairing.6:03Absolutely.6:04Absolutely.6:05Another quick question. Where should6:07full length hit6:09and where should crop denim?6:10Yeah. Do you want to talk?6:12Um well, let's talk about both, right?6:14So um I'm guessing that you wear a lot6:17of crop denim or not.6:19So why don't you talk about where where6:21you look for that to hit?6:22Absolutely. So, where we want that6:23cropped denim to hit is either right6:25above your ankle or right kind of in the6:28middle of your ankle. So, you want to6:29show just enough ankle um to give it6:32that cropped feel. Um but you don't want6:35to always have so much leg, especially6:38it's cold here in6:38Minnesota. A little bit of ankle bone6:41does the body good, right? So, that6:43little sliver of skin and even if you're6:44wearing a sock, it really does help to6:46kind of break up that leg and not feel6:48like you're buckling. So when it comes6:50to full length kind of same rule applies6:52there. So I think it a little bit of6:54this depends on the leg silhouette. So6:57with a straight I don't like much of a6:59break. I want it just to kind of hit at7:00the top of my shoe. And I'm going to7:01tell you right now as a petite I think I7:04hem probably 95% of my jeans. Like I7:07take your extra length.7:07I'm committed to my tailor7:10know and love me well and I am there on7:12a rag basis. So we talk a lot about7:15length. So I think with a straight I7:16like just grazing the top. With a boot7:18cut, I like something a little bit7:20longer so I get that poke of shoe coming7:22out really long and lengthening. With a7:24wide leg, when I'm looking for like how7:27long that should be, I kind of go with7:28the same rules there as I do a straight.7:30So, just like just grazing the top of my7:32shoe,7:33I think helps a lot.7:34And you can see with kind of how my7:36straight legs, just like literally7:37grazing the top of of my foot,7:40especially with that belly slap.7:42Yeah. And then what about barrel? Let's7:44just talk about the barrel length for a7:45second. when it comes to such a sucker7:47for barrel full length cuz that one can7:48be a little tricky I think.7:50Yeah, absolutely. And I always think7:52here with the barrel a little bit of is7:54like how wide of a barrel are we going7:56right? Um I do find that a slimmer8:00barrel I tend personal I like to have it8:03hit just a little bit higher whereas a8:05fuller barrel you can get away with a8:07little bit longer.8:07Yep. And I think for those that are and8:09this is where height really comes into8:11play. a fuller barrel on someone petite8:13is really tricky to pull off. I've tried8:16it. It looks really good on the Graham.8:19Mhm.8:20Not translating so well on the body. So,8:22I I think if you're like starting to tow8:24into that more relaxed silhouette,8:26whether it's a Varrow, whether it's a8:28boyfriend, showing a little bit of ankle8:31and skin on that foot really helps.8:33Absolutely. Absolutely.8:34So, we're going to talk like let's keep8:36talking about. So, I'm gonna bring8:37Melissa in. Thank you so much, Jillian.8:39So Melissa is wearing here's the thing8:42we talk we've talked a lot about that8:44kind of barrel silhouette and barrel can8:47be done in so many ways but really what8:49it is now it's more of just your relaxed8:52jean another another way to think of it8:55is like a new boyfriend like the modern8:57boyfriend um and9:00sneak peek we will see versions of a9:02boyfriend come back for spring even with9:04like the little cool roll can make it9:06casual it's a great juosition for9:08proportions and like leveling up with a9:11dressy, more feminine top and getting9:13that more rugged bottom. But I think9:15really it's all about um the proportion9:18and to your point the length is9:21definitely it's almost like the inverse9:23of a boot cut, right? So like where that9:26where that leg bows, it is tricky. So9:29you got to find we have a lot of9:30versions. I actually want to like point9:32out the Lexi. This one9:33this is a great one. So, this is a great9:35barrelesque. I think they call it a bode9:38leg and she is more of an ankle. She's a9:41little bit slimmer, but you get that9:42relaxed feel. She's a mid-rise. So,9:44she's really great for a petite gal.9:47She's I love how you call her her.9:49Oh, she is she is she's so9:51a true mento9:54like a9:54she's so good to us though, but it's9:55true. This is a really really great9:57silhouette. It gives you great shape. It9:59doesn't feel crazy oversized. So, you so10:02much taller than me, right? petite.10:04Doesn't overwhelm either one of our10:06bodies. It's going to hit us in a little10:07bit. I found with this one, I did hem it10:10just a smidge because I wanted a little10:11more ankle. It helped me feel a little10:13bit more proportionate. And I sized up10:15and wear it relaxed and do a little cup.10:17There you go. I love that.10:18How tall are you?10:18I'm 5'10 and I am wearing a little10:20kitten heel today. So maybe maybe I'm10:2251.10:23So for you, you do recommend sizing up.10:25Um, depends. So, I'm wearing the Paige10:28Aurelia, which the other thing about10:30trend, guys, like especially in new10:33silhouettes, I feel like when it hits10:35the market, it's very exaggerated. And10:37now we're like a couple seasons in, a10:39couple years in, and I feel like the the10:42market has really perfected the fit. So,10:44this Aurelia from Paige, I'm wearing my10:47true size. It's a little bit more fitted10:49on the top lock, but it's inherently10:51relaxed. So, like it's uh it sits lower10:54on my crotch and it's like a little bit10:57relaxed through the leg. This is a 30 in11:00inseam which would typically hit me at11:02like my calf.11:03And because it's more relaxed and like11:05sitting lower, um I feel like it hits me11:08just like at a great little ankle. I11:10also have this in the full length, which11:12is a 32 in inseam. We do have it in11:15another wash for those tall gals. They11:17want to do it full length and I can wear11:19it with like a little heel and I feel11:20like11:21so little insider tip on this one. If11:24you like the Anessa from Paige,11:25yes, it's a great evolution.11:26I love this jean.11:28So the Anessa which we know is one of11:30our absolute fan favorites. Like hands11:32down fits everybody like a glove. I can11:35wear it. Melissa can wear it. Like great11:37great bestselling jean. This is its11:39sister.11:40Yep.11:40So she we love this guy. And one last11:42thing I just want to talk about with11:44barrels. And I think Melissa's11:45demonstrating this so beautifully when11:47we talk about proportion.11:49Note the way that Melissa styled this.11:52So little bit shorter jacket. Heads up.11:55This is really important for spring11:56because it gives you waist definition.11:59Added a belt. So when you're thinking12:01about that volume, how do you still12:03create shape? So important. And so the12:07belt, this little bit shorter jacket,12:09it's kind of hitting her right at that12:10waist, showing a little bit of skin, a12:12little bit of lift in the shoe, all does12:15that to create that perfect hourglass12:17shape, which Melissa has already. We're12:19just accentuating it, making it look12:21even better.12:22Yeah. So, we have a question. What would12:24be the best out?12:27You want to go?12:28I don't know. I mean, you weigh in.12:31To Heidi's point, like everything goes.12:33I think inherently the most sexy jean is12:36a boot cut or a flare. So I think you12:39know if you're dressing for your husband12:41do that. If you're dressing for the12:42girls I think the barrel. And it's a12:44it's a really again going back to that12:46proportion play. So I think you know you12:48want something that's going to be12:49flattering and so you want to balance12:51those proportions.12:52I mean I like a barrel with something12:53more fitted on top. Like to me here's12:55how I think both of these silhouettes12:57feel fresh is that you take a barrel if13:00you want it for night out. I pair it13:01back to something that's got a little13:02bit more shape on top and then I I for13:04sure grab a belt, get that waist13:06definition. With a boot cut, what I13:08think makes this look feel fresh and fun13:10is actually something not so fitted on13:12top. You've got a little bit more of13:14that shape in the leg. So, grab13:16something a little bit more relaxed on13:18top. And I think that juxtaposition is13:20what makes both of these silhouettes13:22sexy.13:23Of course, gang, for night out, you13:25can't go wrong with a straight because13:27it's just it's it's your blank slate,13:29right? Everything goes with it.13:30I think it's it's all the things.13:33Is the stretch the same on the Paige as13:35the Lanessa13:37in Good question. So, we do invest in a13:40few different fabrics from Paige. The13:42Nessa that is like our workhorse13:44bestselling jean is a little bit higher13:46stretch content than the Aurelia. And13:49really because we want the Aurelia to13:51sort of hold that shape. What I would13:52say is this is a very uh it's a lighter13:55ounce denim. So, it still gets a little13:56drape while holding that shape and not13:58compromising comfort.14:00Um,14:01does it have stretch or is it?14:02This one does.14:02Does it?14:03No, but some do. Some do. Some have like14:05one or two%. Not like what you're used14:07to in the Anessa.14:09And then any brand or denim you14:11recommend for curvy?14:13Oh. Um, I mean, for curvy women, I do14:17recommend something with a little more14:19stretch because it's going to have a14:21little bit more retention than something14:23that's 100% rigid, which has its14:27benefits, but I think for like how it14:29fits women's curves, the rigid denim is14:32a little bit more specific. So I would14:34say like my experience I have a booty14:37for sure and like come in at the waist14:39and so and thighs like strong thighs,14:43right? So I have found in like kind of14:45my experience that Good American every14:48freaking time I put a Good American jean14:50on, I'm like well there you go. That's14:52who this jean is made for. The stretch14:54content in it is amazing. They really14:56know how to nip in that waist. I think14:59it's it's a really really great place to15:01start when you are looking for something15:03when you have a little bit of a curvier15:05shape and then from there to Melissa's15:08point looking for stretch kind of at15:10every turn is re which the good news is15:12majority of our denim has stretch so you15:14can really find a great jean for that.15:17Speaking of stretch we flip flop places.15:19We're going to bring in Meg because I15:21think15:22Meg you're wearing one of our15:23bestselling jeans.15:24I have a page Vanessa on.15:26There you go. Okay. Okay, so high15:27stretch content on this puppy and what15:29makes this jeans feel so fresh and fun15:31is15:32color. We love that. It's so fun.15:34I know. So, let's talk about color for a15:36hot second because this is a thing that15:38is happening. So, in that denim15:40wardrobe, right? You need a boot. You15:42need a straight. You need a relax.15:44You need it all.15:45You need it all. You need a wide leg.15:47You're rocking a wide leg, but you're15:48making it kind of fresh and new by15:50wearing it in color.15:52Yes, color is new. It's perfect time to15:54grab it. Spring is coming. It's fun to15:56like pop in some color into your15:57wardrobe, do it in your denim. So, and16:00Anessa is great, too. So, this is a16:01plus.16:02I do want to talk for a hot second about16:05color and how to style it. And I want to16:07have a real talk moment about this16:10because we are now like in the world16:12that is fashion, right? We we are16:14already planning and shooting our um16:17content for all of you for May. So, we16:20have had the good fortune of styling all16:23of this fun color denim all season long.16:26And I want you as a stylist, I want you16:28to talk a little bit about what you've16:29learned.16:30Yeah, as a stylist, I definitely will16:31say it can be tricky. I think we think16:34it can be really easy, but I think just16:36finding those pieces in your wardrobe16:38that go with it, like a little16:39monochromatic look like how I'm doing.16:41That's a great way to do it.16:42Super fun. And again, adding in more16:44color. Like I feel like this is like so16:45vibrant and fun. Really16:47happy Valentine's Day. I was going to16:48say Valentine's Day. Feel like it put a16:50little smile on my face when I saw it16:52all together. Um, but otherwise just16:54finding like those basic neutral colors.16:56Even popping in fun pattern like a16:58stripe16:59denim on this would be super fun. But I17:02think playing with your wardrobe and17:03then finding new colors that17:05and with color you can go bold gang like17:08what Megan's wearing or you can tow in.17:11Okay. And there's lots of ways to do17:12this. So ecru is one of my absolute17:15favorite ways to do color. So fun17:17um this spring season. And I love love17:20love this jean from Cut. This is more of17:22like a cobalt blue. So it17:24feels like denim. Looks like denim. It17:26just has a little bit more saturation to17:28it. So grab your great gray heritage17:31sweatshirt. Pop it on with this. Add a17:33belt. Add a kick. That little sneaker17:35and you're good to go. So fun.17:37How tall are you?17:38I am 5'7. So just right in the middle.17:41Everyone is dressed taller than me17:42today.17:43This is just a reality. This is a17:45reality. And this is a 31 inseam, so it17:48hits just right above my shoe.17:50This is a perfect length. The perfect17:52little wide leg, full length for me,17:54too, which is great. But yeah, these are17:56so comfortable. Like, I need to wear17:58these.17:59And the stitching on this is so cute. I18:00love that.18:00Fun little detail to add. Kind of adds a18:03little novelty to your denim as well.18:05Someone who's watching is also 5'7, but18:07she struggles with finding straight18:08legs.18:12I feel like I don't know. I'm trying to18:14think. I feel like the Oh, yes. These18:18ones definitely would work. These are18:20the Avery cut straight leg. I feel like18:22this would be like the perfect little18:24length. I think the Good American would18:25be just a tad bit longer on me. But18:27also, I feel like with some longer18:29straight legs, you can add like a little18:30cuff, just like a little messy one. Or18:33that's when you grab in like your heel18:35or your booty and then that adds a18:37little like elevation and make your legs18:40look longer, which is great. I'm finding18:42with straights that one of the things18:43that I'm craving in my denim wardrobe is18:46a full length straight and a crop18:48straight18:49because I sometimes I want to show off18:50that sock or I just want a bare ankle or18:53it's again it's about that proportion on18:55top if I'm wearing something a little18:56bit more relaxed I want a little bit of18:57skin showing so that's when I go for my18:59crop but if I'm like tucking in wearing19:02something a little bit more tailored a19:04full length with that like minimal shoe19:06can feel really really good so one thing19:08I would say is like when we talk about19:10the struggle I think a little bit about19:13the need for both in your closet and19:17finding that great jean that's like of19:19that full length and finding that19:21straight that's a little bit more19:22cropped. And I will tell you, I have my19:24favorite straightle jean that was only19:26available in full length and I just19:27bought two pair and I had one hemmed to19:29be cropped and I have one that's full19:31length because the fit was that good and19:33I was like this is just what I want and19:34I know I'm in they are the most worn19:36jeans in my closet by far.19:37For sure.19:38Yeah. What are your guys' favorite shoes19:39to wear with the current denim trends?19:42Oh, I feel like you can have fun with19:44it, but I think with a wide leg, oh,19:48with wide leg, I love wearing more of19:50like a kitten heel. I love wearing a19:53sneaker like this and make it a little19:54bit more casual and everyday, but I I19:57love a lift. So, I like a kitten heel or19:59a little booty to like kind of and it20:02would go right underneath the jean to20:03kind of also give me a little extra20:05height, which I love sometimes cuz I am20:06like that 5'7 height.20:08I feel like in general shoes this spring20:10and summer season are going a little20:11more minimal, right?20:12Yeah. So, we talked about the20:13sneakerina, which is that great blend of20:15that belly and that sneaker kind of had20:17a baby, really low profile. So, when you20:19think about that, like what's great20:21about that is that it's not an20:22overwhelming like heft at the bottom of20:25your body when you're putting on jeans.20:27So then this is where that length20:29conversation comes into play and is so20:32important. So when we talk about kind of20:34denim wardrobing and all the ways in it20:38is really about playing with that20:40proportion that minimal shoe can really20:42like hold up to a great straight and you20:45can wear something a little more relaxed20:46on top because everything isn't so big.20:48Totally right. And then the inverse of20:50that, if you're putting on that20:52sneakerina or that more minimal like20:54little ballet flat and you're putting on20:56a barrel which has more volume to it,20:58then let's not go big on top too. So21:00then you're like volume, volume, and21:02then like ending in this tiny little21:04exclamation point.21:05Totally. Yeah, for sure.21:07And then another good question, what is21:08your favorite denim for petites?21:11It's a go-to.21:12Yeah. Well, okay. So, I mean, first of21:14all, there's just petite denim, which is21:16amazing now. So I love that21:17we carry petite denim in um across21:20multiple stores all across the country21:22and online from multiple brands. So if21:26you have been like me and have been like21:28a loyalist to a particular brand and21:31have just committed yourself to hemming21:32all the time know that we might now have21:35your favorite jean in petite. What I21:37will tell you though from a petite21:38perspective, like denim that I love,21:42what I find like overwhelmingly that I21:45hear from petite women is they love21:47Paige. And I think part of the reason is21:49is that it's really cut for that women21:52woman's shape. So Paige, one of like the21:55original icons of premium denim. She was21:58a fit model. She understands a woman's22:00body. The jeans have always been22:02designed for that. And I think when you22:04think about the pocket placement on22:05page, the pockets are a little bit22:06smaller, which I think is really22:08flattering to that more petite frame.22:10Um, lots and lots of stretch, so you're22:14not going to bag out in your jean, which22:15again, we're talking about that petite22:17body. I mean, I think of myself though,22:19and there's so many ways to be petite,22:21and I am not like an itty bitty petite,22:23right? I am a muscular petite, and so on22:26a good day. So, when I think about that,22:28for me,22:30Paige is amazing. But I also love Ptola22:32cuz they tend to have a little bit more22:33room in the thigh, which for me works22:36great, right? And I have a little bit22:38more booty. So a bigger pocket is22:40actually a good thing for me. So it22:42doesn't look like I have two postage22:43stamps on my rear end. So I tend to be a22:45big POA fan as a petite gal just because22:48I have a little bit more curve in my22:49legs and backside.22:50Yep.22:51Okay. All right. We're going to bring22:52everybody back cuz I want you to see all22:54these amazing women in their incredible22:56denim.
